FRENER & REIFER is carrying out refurbishment, conversion and extension work at Morland Mixité Capitale on the site of the former Paris Prefecture, located directly on the banks of the Seine in the 4th arrondissement. The client Société Parisienne du Nouvel Arsenal > Emerige commissioned a project management team composed of engineering and design departments and architects including David Chipperfield Architects, Berlin and CALQ Architecture with the design and execution of the work. The two top floors will once again be open to the public.

Spectacular art installation for panoramic bar and restaurant.

The visual art installation by artists Olafur Eliasson and Sebastian Behmann of Studio Other Spaces creates constantly changing views of Paris. The highly mirrored finishes of the interior surfaces reflect images and movements from the urban surroundings. These changing viewpoints and perspectives immerse visitors in a vivid kaleidoscopic effect.

FRENER & REIFER was commissioned with the technical development, design and production of this innovative and highly complex all-glass art work. 32 glass cubes installed on the roof - each one consisting of 4 sheets of fully mirrored glass topped with a curved glass panel - form one part of the overall artistic staging. On the floor below, FRENER & REIFER has realised glass facades and glass balustrades with special anti-reflective coating, as well as a suspended ceiling in the outdoor area with mirrored stainless steel sheets.

The glass sheets used weigh up to 1.4 tons - installation at a height of 55 m had to be carefully planned and executed.
