AUTOMATICALLY OPENING GLASS ROOF
HOTEL LAMM
Automatically opening glass roof
The 4-star Hotel Lamm, which opened in 1670, has long been one of the most prestigious hotels in South Tyrol. In 2015 it was decided to renovate the building. The architects Paul Senoner and Lukas Tammerle from Castelrotto were commissioned to modernise the hotel while creating architecture appropriate to the local context.
One of the special features of the new hotel is the 312 m² of 30° inclined roof glazing above the "Sky Pool" on the top floor, equipped with chequerboard pattern sun protection. One of the two 60 m² sliding roof leafs can be opened and closed automatically via hydraulic cylinders.
FRENER & REIFER was responsible for the complete design-engineering, fabrication and installation of the 312 m² of 30° inclined, partially openable roof glazing, as well as the curved entrance glazing, the walkable glass floor skylight, the gable glazing and several glass doors.
