Conference of glass experts in Finland on the theme: Glass technology, design and sustainability

FRENER & REIFER speaker Dipl. Ing. Arch. Irene Bachmann presented the project "New Wildspitzbahn" at the conference. The new valley and mountain (3440 m) stations provide access to the Hintere Brunnenkogel in Pitztal, the highest glacier in Austria with a cable car connection.
The presentation dealt with, among other things, the project challenges arising from the extremely difficult geometry of the outer envelopes of the mountain and valley stations and the difficult natural conditions. Other topics included 3D design, choice of materials, coatings, the design of the insulating glass railings as well as production, logistics and assembly.

In the second part of the lecture Ms Bachmann presented the Apple Retail Stores built by FRENER & REIFER. The central theme was the quality of the execution of the facades in the very tight time frames specified and the choice of glazing coatings.

At the end of the presentation the research project "Solar Thermal Technology" was introduced. This is an on-going development project focusing on a modular concept for "facade-integrated energy efficiency".
